“The Weight of the Earth” is a ritualistic performance mourning Mumbai’s ecological collapse. The body becomes a site of urban grief. Through this visceral procession, the performance questions: Can we mourn what we continue to destroy? Can death rituals become a call for regeneration?

I come from the place where I have no home—

Where home once meant safety, now swallowed in dust.
We began by sharing space,
But the space was never truly ours.

What we called "shared“
Is now sectioned, silenced,
No longer echoing our breath.

Our screams, once warnings,
Now chime as alarm ringtones.
But even we—
We cannot hear ourselves anymore.

Our voices—
Fossilized, archived in glass boxes.
Museums will hold our bones,
But only one species will feel
The tremble of our absence.

Our memory?
A lock screen wallpaper.
Our death?
Public sculpture.

My home is no more my home.

Raise your voice—
And bulldozers will answer.

Raise your voice—
And it will be buried beneath cement.

Are the bulldozers the enemy,
Or those who send them forth?

Our death certificates—
Rewards for the few who survive.
But what about the next of you?

This is a mourning.
This is resistance.
This is the final echo—
Of a place that once held life.
